History This 24 year old traditional event has a lot of history. Loved by all, but few may know the origin of the The Great Sutter Creek Duck Race. It was founded by the Men's Club of the Immaculate Conception Church in Sutter Creek. In 1972 the Immaculate Conception Church burned to the ground. The community of Sutter Creek, without regard to religious affiliation, provided an outpouring of emotional, physical and financial support to the parishioners and to the rebuilding of the church...to the point that it was debt free upon completion! The Men's Club started the Great Sutter Creek Duck Race as a way to give back to the community for their support during thier hardship. 100% of the proceeds from this event go straight back into the community through local charities and non-profit organizations. The Duck Race attracts visitors from the local area and from Sacramento, the Bay area and even Southern California. Planning for the Duck Race is a year long effort, culminating in a Saturday of family fun, food, entertainment and over $10,000 in cash and prizes plus exciting kids prizes! |
