Sutter Creek Blues and Brews Festival
To be announced.
The Sutter Creek Blues & Brews Festival was originally started in 1995 as a MicroBrew Tasting event and it was actually held on Main Street Sutter Creek. The downtown shops would host a different brewery inside their store or on the front porch as the case may be. People who purchased their sampling ticket would then stroll Main Street, meandering from store to store to sample many wonderful Micro Brews. There would be different musical venues along the way, where you could sit and enjoy the music or kick your heels up and dance a while.
After a few years, the event grew so large that the shops on Main Street could not handle that many people inside their stores, so the event was modified and held in Minnie Provis Park. Shortly after that it was modified again to be held in three venues: Eureka Street parking lot, Randolph Street, and the Violich parking lot at the north end of town. There was a band and breweries in each location and the attendees were free to visit each one over the coarse of the evening. This was so popular that the event grew to over 1,500 people in attendance.
Then there was a bump in the road with trying to get insurance and the event was dormant for three years. In 2007 the Sutter Creek Business & Professional Association brought back the popular event with a few changes to satisfy the insurance companies, and it has been a county wide favorite ever since.
